Teach For America and Let's Get ReadyLET’S GET READY AND TEACH FOR AMERICA FORM NEW PARTNERSHIP Let’s Get Ready is proud to announce a new partnership with Teach For America. Together, the two organizations will provide college students with the opportunity to positively impact students in low-income communities both before and after graduation. As part of this new partnership, LGR’s Directors and Coaches who wish to continue their educational efforts in low-income communities beyond college will have access to Teach For America recruiters, information and resources.“The dedication and leadership Let’s Get Ready Coaches display as they prep their students for college entrance exams are exactly the type of skills we look for in our corps members,” said Sara Peters, Manager of Non-Profit Outreach at Teach For America. “Let’s Get Ready Coaches have already made an impact on the educational inequities in our country and we hope our partnership allows them to continue expanding educational opportunities for students in low-income communities.” In addition, college students who are interested in Teach For America and who are seeking relevant teaching experience will have the opportunity to learn more about and participate in LGR. “Let’s Get Ready is very excited about the opportunity to partner with Teach For America, an organization that shares our commitment to providing educational opportunities to students in low-income communities,” said Lauri Novick, Executive Director of LGR. “Working with Teach For America is a wonderful way for LGR to identify talented, motivated college students to serve as LGR Coaches and Directors.” A number of LGR Directors and Coaches have gone on to Teach For America after graduation. Representative of this group is Cristina Thompson, a former LGR Coach at Brown and Site Director for LGR’s summer program in Summit, NJ. Cristina’s experience helping under-served high school students through the college application process allowed her to see the achievement gap firsthand, and following graduation she enlisted in Teach For America as a first grade teacher in NYC. Through this new partnership, LGR and Teach For America hope that more LGR Directors and Coaches like Cristina will continue their work fighting educational inequity.
