It was a lesson Kate learned as a college student volunteer Coach in LGR. Kate set up email accounts for all of her students to keep up with them and check on homework, and her students loved her constant reminders and affirmation. One student, Alice, told Kate she was very grateful that LGR helped her feel more prepared and less scared about the SATs and college. Alice and the other students benefited from Kate’s persistence, and she benefited as well. It was this experience that pushed Kate to apply to Teach for America.
