Let's Get Ready's Career DaysCareer Day: Summer 2009 On Saturday July 25, 2009, over 200 Let’s Get Ready students from all Mid-Atlantic summer programs and 35 young professionals from a wide variety of fields gathered at NYU to participate in LGR Career Day 2009. The young professionals led career-oriented activities such as career and personality assessments, “My Path” (an activity in which students discussed the steps they could take now to get to their desired career), and career panels. Students also put their newly-learned networking skills to use as they participated in a networking session and exchanged business cards with young professionals. At the end of the event, LGR site directors and coaches led students on a guided tour of NYU.
Students and young professionals thoroughly enjoyed the event. LGR Bronx student Cristina Dones said, “The young professionals were friendly and inspiring. I now feel more confident about what I want to do and accomplish.”  Summer 2008 LGR Career Day The day will consist of small group and one-on-one activities. Career Day volunteers will meet one-on-one and in small groups with high school juniors and seniors to discuss career goals and to talk about life after college. We were overwhelmed by the number of new professionals who came to this year's Career Day and the energy and insight each brought to the program. The energy that day was exciting and inspiring making this our most successful Career Day yet! The over 80 students you supported that day also recognized and appreciated your commitment to their futures. In their evaluations of the day they said things like: "I liked it a lot, to meet other people and hear about other careers . . .Everything was great. I would like to volunteer someday when I'm in college . . .It was fun and I learned some important things . . .Career Day was a great opportunity to learn more about others and ourselves." The Summer 2006 LGR Career Day was SIZZLING! On August 19th, 81 NYC area high school students met with 22 Young Professionals at NYU's Silver Center to share experiences, discuss career paths, and learn about life after college.  LGR's staff and students want to send out a big thank-you to all the Young Professionals who took time out of their busy schedule to attend career day. One grateful student said "I loved interacting with the Young Professionals and now I know that I CAN succeed!"
