Let's Get Ready Hosts "Join The Movement" Benefit

Boston, MA Let’s Get Ready, a groundbreaking organization that has provided free SAT preparation, admissions counseling, and other support services for over 22,000 high school students from historically under-served communities, hosted their 4th annual New England “Join the Movement” Benefit on October 8 at the Boston Harbor Hotel.

In addition to honoree Richard Holbrook, chairman and CEO of Eastern Bank, attendees included Susan Wornick, former WCVB-TV News Anchor, Nakia Navarro, Let’s Get Ready New England regional director, and Donald Brennan, Let’s Get Ready Ambassador and current Brown University student.

Help us congratulate our Enrollment & Partnerships Manager, Pam Hasbun, as she celebrates her one-year anniversary with LGR and kickstarts her first year as an MEd student! 🎉

We asked Pam why the work she does at LGR is important to her:

"It means a lot to me to help students achieve success and support. When I was in high school, I almost didn’t apply to college because I had no one in my corner. My parents were awesome emotional aid, but they did not know much about the ins and outs of college apps, FAFSA, and the SAT.

As a first-gen Latinx student, I would have really appreciated having someone by my side as I went through my first and second year at UC Berkeley. So many students face these hardships alone and drop out of school altogether. That is why it is so important for me that I help them feel less alone. Everyone deserves to go to college and have a support system that can help them when times get tough." - Pam Hasbun

We`re going to miss you, Dallas! Our Associate Director of Curriculum and Training, Virna Johnson, led a roundtable discussion at #NCAN2023 on the work that Let`s Get Ready has done to implement culturally responsive mentorship as part of the @successnyc "Critical Consciousness in College Access and Success" working group.

We`re incredibly inspired by the work that we are doing together. Stay tuned as we continue to develop, test, and document innovative approaches to better support students of color to and through college.

We`re thrilled to announce our newest partnership with The Hg Foundation! Together, we`re launching an innovative 3-year STEM Pathway program to expand LGR`s offerings and empower 6,900 STEM students - doubling the current number of LGR students passionate about STEM!

Our collaboration aims to reduce college dropout rates, boost graduation rates, and propel students into fulfilling STEM careers, especially those from underrepresented groups.
