Join us in welcoming Ella Harris – our RISE Fellow summer intern!

Ella is a rising sophomore at Princeton and a prospective Psychology major with possible certificates in African American Studies and Gender and Sexuality Studies. She matched with Let’s Get Ready through Princeton RISE (Recognizing Inequities and Standing for Equality), a fellowship program at Princeton University, where she also works in the Princeton Baby Lab as a Research Assistant and is a part of the Princeton University Mentoring Program.

Ella became invested in learning about educational equity through experiences at her own high school and doing independent research on culturally responsive curriculums in world language classrooms. She plans to integrate her internship experience with academics as a part of Service Focus this upcoming academic year by taking service-related courses related to educational policy in the United States.

We asked her the question: Why is this work important to you?

“This work is important to me because I hope to develop my understanding of the different experiences students have applying to college as well as broaden my perspective on what a student’s time at college might look like. It is also important for me to empower students with knowledge and resources that allow them to be their authentic selves during the college application process and while at college.”

We love that, Ella, and are thrilled to have you with us this year.
